The article provides a comparative analysis of reducing operating costs and generating additional revenue when using a mechanical and chemical method for removing contaminants from evaporative cooling towers to increase their efficiency and reliability using the example of measures taken as part of the scheduled preventive maintenance of power units № 1 NVNPP-2 and № 2 NVNPP-2 in 2025. The analysis method used was the calculation of the unit costs of repairs within the framework of the scheduled preventive maintenance, which differed in the ways of restoring the evaporative tower cooling capacity. According to the results of the analysis, it was found that the chemical cleaning of the central zone sprinkler, along with the replacement of the peripheral zone of the cooling tower, can significantly reduce the time and improve the quality of the evaporative cooling tower repairs, reaching the project values of the cooling depth of the circulating water at the condenser inlet during the hottest period of the year. The analysis, taking into account the realization of the capacity of its own production, proves the expediency of using a combined approach in implementing measures to improve the efficiency of the evaporative cooling tower, which is especially important for nuclear power plants on hard water sources.
