A two-component nuclear power consisting of existing thermal neutron reactors and fast neutron reactors with a closed fuel cycle is discussed as a tool for solving the main modern time problems – environmental pollution and global warming with insufficient knowledge about the future of power industry. It is argued that this tool will work in full force only when it is used in the G20 countries – China, the USA, India, Russia, the European Union and others. The justification of its application for widespread use is hampered by insufficient knowledge (or lack thereof) about the future development ofboth the global community and the power industry itself. The associated uncertainties are mentioned and it is noted that many of them are under resolution. As the forecasting horizon gets further away, the volume of such uncertainties increases, but a number of key provisions are already known and this allows us to make informed decisions. This allowed the Rosatom State Corporation to adopt a strategy for the transition to a two-component nuclear power in Russia in the medium term. As for other countries, public opinion is conservative in many of them i and does not yet support the widespread use of nuclear energy due to fears of nuclear accidents and the possibility of nuclear proliferation. Large business has not yet joined the large-scale use of nuclear energy, not seeing serious economic incentives in it. It is concluded that Russia has made a timely decision to focus energy on a two-component nuclear power system, which can serve as an example for other countries.
