The automated process control system for VVER-1200 performs a comprehensive function to ensure efficient, safe and reliable control of the power unit’s technological processes, including monitoring, automatic control, protection and information support for NPP operators and personnel. Protection against errors for a common reason can be provided by applying the principle of diversity. To ensure this principle, the VVER-1200 automated process control system has an independent sabotage protection system (DSZ) implemented by non-programmable technical means. Despite the increased resistance of automated process control systems to failures due to a common cause due to the introduction of DSPs, there may be cases of excessive activation of these protections. The use of a power unit software model integrated into the upper block control system (CBM) allows the operator to predict the development of the technological process and make management decisions to eliminate excessive activation of safety systems. The article is devoted to the aspects of eliminating/reducing excessive activation of safety systems through the implementation of a software/virtual model of the VVER-1200 power unit.
