Modernization and Prolongation of BN-600 Operation beyond the Design Period

The article provides data on the main stages and volumes of work that made it possible to extend the life of power unit No. 3 with the BN-600 reactor at the Beloyarsk NPP until 2040 (up to 60 years).

Rostekhnadzor already issued license No. GN-03-101-2342 for the operation of the BN-600 reactor of power unit No. 3 of the Beloyarsk NPP until March 31, 2020, then extended until 2025.

The accumulated experience in implementing the BN-600 power unit modernization program showed the possibility of further extending the service life, which made it possible to carry out an extensive list of additional measures for the second stage of modernization and obtain permits from the operating organization and regulatory authorities to extend the operation of the BN-600 reactor until 2040.
