The concise historical review of the design, construction and operation of the BN-600 power unit, BN-350 power unit successor but designed on a different technological platform, is presented. The problems encountered at the initial stage of the BN-600 operation are shown. The perspectives of the development of the fast sodium-cooled reactors are shown.
